While China may send only seven players to the individual events in Rotterdam (8 – 15 May) for the World Championships, Austria will be nominating five players for the individual events.
A large contingent from the Werner Schlager Academy is being represented at the World Championships in five weeks time.
From our (inter)national training group, Austria will be represented in Rotterdam by Werner Schlager, Chen Weixing, Daniel Habesohn, Stefan Fegerl (all from SVS Niederösterreich), and Austria's one women team of Li Qiangbing (SVS STRÖCK).
Joao Monteiro, a WSA player from the very beginning, will perform for Portugal in Rotterdam, seeking a direct Olympic qualification in 2012.
Daniela Dodean, having made Schwechat her home since September, playing for SVS STRÖCK and a major figurehead at WSA, will be the major hope for Romania.
Pradebaan Peter-Paul, playing in Austria for Langenlois in the Staatsliga-Einsatz and training part-time at the WSA, is the main contender at the World Championships for Canada.
Huang Yi-Hua, number one on the SVS STRÖCK team and in Taiwan, has a legitimate hope for a medal in singles as well as in women's doubles with I-Ching Chen.
The Werner Schlager Academy will also have another representative on the front lines in Rotterdam. WSA Head Coach Richard Prause—with a cooperative agreement between the Werner Schlager Academy and the Iranian National Association—will direct Iran's national team.
Also,
the WSA will be omnipresent behind the scenes at the World Championships with
Head Coach and table tennis institution Mario Amizic, WSA-CEO Martin Sörös, and
head office manager Bettina Müller working with the network of suppliers,
associations, and institutions discussing and negotiating contract
opportunities with the Werner Schlager Academy.
And, a member of the WSA staff, Donn Olsen (USA), will be in
Rotterdam to make a presentation at the 12th ITTF Sports Science
Conference.
