In the order of things, it seems it is about wins and losses.  Often, it is only the difference of a few millimeters that determines who wins or loses points in the world rankings.

 

And then, suddenly, it all becomes secondary.  You turn on the TV and you are shocked by what you see. It is sad and you are stunned.

 

We at the Werner Schlager Academy in Schwechat have deep sympathy for the recent events in Japan.  Nature has struck back as people in Japan have suffered as the rest of the world watches, and hopes.  We can only hope that our friends and partners (such as those of our premium partner Butterfly) do not meet the full force of Fate.  Our compassion and best wishes accompany you in these difficult hours and days.

But we also – in coordination with our partner club SVS Lower Austria – want to try to do our good work.  Therefore, in this spirit, we have decided to donate part of the revenue from the Champions semifinal between SVS Lower Austria and Borussia Dusseldorf on 6 April (20:15 in the Multiverse in Schwechat) to the victims of the tragedy in Japan.

 

We call on the entire table tennis and sports community to show solidarity with those affected by these difficult times by their donations for the reconstruction and to alleviate the suffering of those many who are victims.
