Multiversum/WSA overrun by Table Tennis enthusiasts!
A deluge of
excited Table tennis players found its way into the Multiversum Schwechat.
Reason for that were the 2. Riha Open 2015, organized by the Werner Schlager
Academy. The sequel of the successful tournament held in January came up with
nine disciplines- from hobby to professional player and managed to even outclass
the earlier tournaments.
With in
total 126 players and 229 entries a new record was achieved and it is apparent
that the WSA organizes (with a few others) the biggest tournaments in Vienna
and Lower Austria.
The official NÖTTV-ranking tournament was held on 25 Butterfly-competition-tables and one more time the outstanding facilities of the international high-performance table tennis center WSA assured ideal conditions. A permanently placed Gerflor-Taraflex-floor, lights with 1.500 Lux and high quality fixtures show that the WSA is one of the best-equipped table tennis centers in Europe.
As at the tournament in January, Alexander Chen (foreign club), crowned himself champion of the open contest. He defeated WSA-coach Mathias Habesohn (DSG Union Waldegg Linz) with a 3:0 victory, although the sets were much closer than the end-result would lead one to suspect.
The contest up to 1150 rating points featured the highest number of entries with 43 players. ASKÖ Komperdell from Vienna was the club with the most players (13 players, 34 entries). In total, the statistics show that on this single day, 453 matches were played in 12 hours.
For table tennis-beginners, a hobby contest was organized and after the group stage even spontaneously separated in a main round and a consolation round.
The Werner Schlager Academy thanks all of the participants, the assistants, the referee Jefim Rudermann as well as the NÖTTV, who made such an excellent event possible.
The next tournament at the Werner Schlager Academy is taking place on September 13, 2015.
