The international table tennis’ highlight 2015 approaches rapidly: the World Table Tennis Championships in the Chinese city Suzhou (April, 26 – May, 3). Again and again the Chinese competitors will be the favourites for the titles and will be hunted by the rest of the world.
The reigning world champions in the singles competition (2013 in Paris) are Zhang Jike and Li Xiaoxia.
The Werner Schlager Academy is represented by the huge number of 23 players from 17 countries in Suzhou.
According to the current ITTF World Ranking the Portuguese European Team Champion Marcos Freitas who is practicing at the WSA for two years and has risen up to place 9 in the world ranking in this time, is the “WSA number 1” in China.
Also the Austrian players who permanently practice at the WSA are very well featured with the current number 18 Robert Gardos, Daniel Habesohn (number 48) and Stefan Fegerl (number 50).
The reigning Austrian team champion SVNÖ Ströck has the whole team participating in the World Championships: Tetyana Bilenko, Matilda Ekholm, Lea Rakovac, Dora Madarasz and Tamolwan Khetkuen.
Daniela Dodean-Monteiro is forced to pause this tournament because her childbirth is about to happen in the next months.
