The new world rankings published
by the International Table Tennis Federation once again proof the top form of the
players of the Werner Schlager Academy. 12
athletes (men and women) of the WSA are ranked within the top 100.
With
his best position in the men's world rankings, the Portuguese Marcos Freitas continues being on rank
12. Robert
Gardos, Alexander Shibaev and
defensive artist Chen Weixing keep
their rankings. However,
in the ranking technical breakthrough another player succeeded: The 25-years-old
Stefan Fegerl, player of SVS Niederösterreich
and in the Austrian table tennis national team, reached his best ever
placing with rank 48. The
16 places jump is of course the result of his success in the recent past. The
win against the top 10 man Chuang Chih
-Yuan at the German Open in Magdeburg was one of the best moments so far.
"This is the reward for the hard and accurate work with the Werner
Schlager Academy, the coaches (note: WSA head coaches and national team coach)
and my wife (note: Li Qiangbing). However,
one must not settle with the achievements and has to go forward." as to the
euphoric Fegerl.
For
the women of the Werner Schlager Academy the reigning European single champion
and SVS Ströck anchor Li Fen still
leads the field with number 27. Her
team mates Daniela Dodean Monteiro (No.
53), Tetyana Bilenko (No. 72) and Petra Lovas (No. 76) follow. The
WSA-coming talent Tamolwan Khetkuen reached
with position 131 her best ever placing in the ITTF world rankings.
