The spirit of the best table tennis players in the country will be found this weekend in the Werner Schlager Academy (WSA) in Schwechat.
The first spring collection round of Women National Leagues A and B will be Saturday (from 14 clock) and Sunday (from 9 clock) in the WSA. Four rounds are to be played.
In numbers, this means that the 23 best women's teams in the country are in competition (11 clubs of the National League A, 12 clubs in the B) in Schwechat for championship points. Thus: The 100 best table tennis players of Austria (and some international stars) will be seen for two days in Schwechat.
In the women's league A, truly a world-class table tennis scene will be shown.
Defending and autumn champions SVS STRÖCK with its Japanese star players Yuki Nonaka and Aya Umemura and with the National champions Li Qiangbing and Nicole Galitschitsch will compete, as well as Linz AG Froschberg with Austria's number 1 ex-European Champion Liu Jia, with Czech Republic's world-class player Iveta Vacenovska and Germany's young star Petrissa Solja. Further among others TTC Villach with Austria's Olympic athlete Amelie Solja, the elder sister of Petrissa.
The services of Daniela Dodean /SVS STRÖCK are not available yet. Since the summer of 2010 the Romanian has been living in Schwechat. A serious knee surgery in December has caused her to pause for some time.
The special piquancy to these ladies days at the WSA.
The Champions League semi-final (February 2 in Linz, February 8, in Schwechat) will be a hot duel between last year finalist SVS STRÖCK and Linz AG Froschberg. And: In the very first round on Saturday SVS STRÖCK meets Linz AG Froschberg II, where, among others, international top players as the Romanian team player Camelia Postoaca and native Chinese Liu Yuan are in the squad.
Also focused on 12 and 13 January in the WSA: Austria's best young players such as Caroline Mischek (TTC Flötzersteig Vienna), who has just been ranked by the ITTF as number 31 in the Under15-ranking and thus listed as number 8 in Europe.
