SVNÖ Ströck ladies fought bravely

29.10.2014

WSA’s partner club SVNÖ STRÖCK fought bravely in the first home match of the current European Champions League against the favourite team KTS Zamek Tarnobrzeg (Poland). After more than three hours they lost unfortunately with 2-3 points.

In the first match STRÖCK’s new number one, Matilda Ekholm, could win with 3-1 against the Czech national team player Renata Strbikova. Subsequently the only 21-year-old Hungarian Dora Madarasz (new member of the STRÖCK team) brought the number 8 of the ITTF World Ranking Han Ying close to a defeat with an encouraged performance (8-11 in the fifth game). Above all her performance in the third game was impressive when she could change a 4-9 points into a 11-9 victory.

Another big sensation was delivered by Tetyana Bilenko who beat Han Ying with in a very tactical game with a masterly performance. With a clear 3-0 in games Han Ying did not have any chance in this duel of the defensive players.

Although it was SVNÖ STRÖCK’s third defeat in the current Champions League season there are still enough possibilities to reach the CL semi-final (second place) or the ETTU-Cup (third place). After the next home matches against Fenerbahce Istanbul (24. November, 7 p.m., WSA) and Szekszard (1. December, 7 p.m., WSA) we will know what the chances are.

Only 19 hours after the turbulent CL-match the team of SVNÖ STRÖCK repeated their great fighting spirit and performance in the international superleague. Dora Madarasz, Lea Rakovac and Jessica Zlatilova could beat MSK Malacky with a clear 6-2.
