The Werner Schlager Academy is going to start the New Year with a very special highlight!

On Monday, 19^th January 2015 (7 p.m., WSA sports hall) the WSA partner club SVNÖ Ströck who became Austrian champion in the last season will face arch rival and Austrian vice champion Linz AG Froschberg in the European Champions League semi-finals.

Reaching the CL semi-finals the totally changed and rejuvenated team fulfilled a big sensation and proved that they still belong to the Top 4 teams in Europe. After four defeats in the group matches could the team led by Aya Umemura and Tamara Boros make the change happen and win the last two matches againt Szekszard (Hungary, 3:0) and Tarnobrzeg (Poland, 3:2). The two victories were enough to advance to the semi-finals.

The ETTU commented on the surprising victory of SVNÖ Ströck againt Tarnobrzeg to be one of the biggest sensations in the Women’s ECL history.

But this is not enough for the Ströck team. Although arch rival Linz has a Chinese top player (Li Xiaodan) among their players the SVNÖ Ströck girls believe that they can win this home match in front their home crowd. The next sensation is pursued according to the motto: “We do not fear anyone!”
