Marcos Freitas, reigning European Team Champion and permanent member of the international WSA training group since 2 years, could consolidate his position among the top players in the world in the latest ITTF world ranking.
He improved his position by one rank and is now the number 8 of the world for the first time. In Europe he is number 3 hunting the two German exceptional talents Dimitrij Ovtcharov (no. 6) and Timo Boll (no. 7).
Therewith the left-handed Portuguese starts as number 8 of the seeding list in the upcoming Table Tennis World Championships in Suzhou / China (April, 26 – May, 3) which is the highest position of all WSA players at the World Championships.
Also other WSA players are among the seeded players (max. 64), e.g. the Austrian national team players Robert Gardos (no. 18), Stefan Fegerl (no. 50), Daniel Habesohn (no. 53) and Chen Weixing (no. 54).
Besides the Austrian players the Portuguese Joao Monteiro (no. 29), the Russian Alexander Shibaev (no. 41) and the Italian Mihai Bobocica (no. 48) are as well seeded.
The reigning Austrian team champion SVNÖ Ströck sends his top players to Suzhou. Among the seeded players are the Ukrainian Tetyana Bilenko (no. 38), who could reach a phenomenal 9th place at the last World Championships, the Swedish Matilda Ekholm (no. 45) and the Hungarian Dora Madarasz (no. 47).
